Frequently Asked Questions
Q: I already have an LMS, why do I need
Learn.net?
A: Learn.net's blended learning platform uses LMS technology to
administer, track and report on courses, tests, quizzes, surveys etc. We
logically co-exist with your legacy LMS system and feed the results data
to that LMS, or any other HRIS system (typically pass/fail results
only). If you already have an enterprise LMS, the Learn.net system
becomes your toolset and repository for all training activities, where
all detailed training activities are kept (such as all the answers to
test questions).
Q: I use WebEx | LiveMeeting | GoToMeeting.
Why should I consider eTutor instead?
A: The above-mentioned (excellent) platforms were designed for
presentation and meeting purposes; eTutor was designed from the ground
up to be a VirtualClassroom tool. All training activities in
eTutor are tracked (such as attendance or quiz scores), and become part
of a learner's permanent portfolio. eTutor is part of Learn.net's
suite of blended learning technologies called CADE and emulates an
instructor-led classroom through the use of several collaboration tools
such as screen-sharing/peek, whiteboarding, chat and brainstorming.
Whereas WebEx is a point-solution, eTutor is part of the CADE ecosystem.
Q: What is the difference between eTutor and
the VirtualClassroom?
A: eTutor is a PC-to-PC collaboration platform, with individual remote
learners participating from their PCs. The VirtualClassroom, whether
delivered via satellite or the internet, is a classroom environment with
learners participating in a classroom/group environment watching the
instructor live on a big screen and using wireless student response
units (SRUs) to respond to quiz questions or talk (verbally) to the
instructor using the built-in microphones.
Q: What's the difference between Learn.net's
MAPLE and LMW learning management systems?
A: Both are enterprise-caliber learning management systems. MAPLE
is a very robust traditional LMS with specific strengths in
supporting complex organizational hierarchies, Administration, authoring
using learning objects, and ecommerce. MAPLE is exclusively
provided as a cloud-based service. The LMW can be operated behind
your firewall or operated in the cloud; it's key strengths are ease of
customization and configuration, and the integration with eTutor and
satellite-based Virtual Classrooms.
